What is Internet Point of Care Learning?

Internet Point of Care (IPoC) is CME activity structured by an accredited CME provider in which a participant engages in self-directed, online learning via searching for topics relevant to a clinical question. Each activity is awarded 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.

  1. Identify a problem in your practice
  2. Perform an online search for an answer from the VEITHsymposium database of content
  3. Complete a learner evaluation
  4. Download your certificate

How it Works

  • Each time you search in Quick Cases, a new activity is started.
  • After searching, every eligible clip you watch will be associated with that activity until you perform a new search.
  • You can see your search activity on the Credits page.
  • Each time you leave and return to the site (IE start a new session) you must do a new search in order for your subsequent activity to be tracked.
  • If your search is less than 3 characters it will not be tracked as an activity.
  • A new search will show up in your search activity once you have watched at least 1 eligible clip following that search.

FAQ

There are two ways of telling if a clip is eligible for accreditation.

In order to ensure you are watching eligible clips, you can use the Filter tool on the Quick Cases search page. If you click on Type then click Point of Care CME, this will ensure only eligible clips are shown.

  1. In the search results, the eligible clips have a blue CME tag in the top right corner.
  2. While viewing a clip, it says “This clip is accredited for Internet Point of Care CME” in the sidebar.

Every search has to have a minimum of three characters in order to be tracked. If your search is three or more characters long and is still not being tracked, please contact support and we can help you.

There are two reasons why the clips you watch may not be be tracked.

  1. If you exited the website and then came back some time later, then the clips you watch are not associated with any search activity, and therefore will not be tracked. If this is the case, you have to perform a new search to start a new activity, then your clip views will be associated with that activity.
  2. If the clips you are watching are not eligible for Point of Care CME.  You can learn more about eligible clips here.

Q: Which clips are accredited for Internet Point of Care?

Q: Why didn’t my search show up in my activity?

Q: Why weren't the clips I watched tracked with my activity?

In order to ensure you are watching eligible clips, you can use the Filter tool on the search page. If you click on Type then click Point of Care CME, this will ensure only IPoC eligible clips are shown.

There are two ways of telling if a clip is eligible for accreditation.

  • In order to qualify for a certificate you have to watch a minimum of one eligible clip following your search. Once you qualify, you can click on Get Certificate on the Credits page.
  • You must fill out all of the fields in the evaluation questionnaire.
  • The appropriate certificate will be generated based on the degree you supply in the evaluation questionnaire. You will either get an AMA PRA Category 1™ CME certificate or a Certificate of Participation (both demonstrated below).
  • All certificates are worth 0.5 Credits, and you get one certificate per search activity.
